Abstract:
For the past 6 1/2 years the Tukisiniarvik Centre has provided support and assistance to the community of Iqaluit. It offers drop-in facilities for people to gather information or advice, or counselling to help with a variety of problems. Elders are also available for counselling, to teach traditional skills, or to give advice on Inuit values customs, beliefs and practices. Additional services offered may be access to sewing, practical help in translating, or help with resumes for people who are without work.

Use of traditions or ceremonies
The center offers programs promoting traditional inuit values. For instance, the Land Program, offered to all in the summer and to men in the winter, is provides an opportunity for community members to go out on the land and learn traditional subsidence activities such as hunting, fishing, berry-picking etc. The center provides all necessary equipment. As many as 100 participants are expected for the summer 2009 session.

Role of Elders
Elders are available for counselling, or to give advice on Inuit values, customs, beliefs, and practices.

Role of youth
Youth are welcome into the centre; they partake in activities such as sewing and cultural skill learning
