Objectives
- Support families
- Provide a positive play environment for children.
Use of traditions or ceremonies
Families are provided with transportation to sweat lodge ceremonies. Parents participate in a sharing circle each morning using the 'talking stick'. A cultural facilitator conducts information sessions on culture and history and offers instruction in drum making and crafts such as dreamcatchers.
Role of Elders
Elders are involved informally, and may participate in community gatherings and staff training.
Role of youth
Youth contribute through work experience from local schools.
Evaluation Design
Questionnaires are provided to both the staff and the participants of the program. Quarterly and annual reports are provided to Health Canada.
